What Happened to the Ting!?!

Sadly, Ting is no longer being bottled in New London. We got the word that the current bottler will no longer be making Ting Soda. To commemorate the sad occasion Bob Weller (AKA The Mayor) treated some special customers to the very last bottle of Ting.

The good news is that someone purchased the recipe for Ting and is exploring the possibility of resurrecting it. Since bottles are scarce, it may be in the form of soda fountain style Ting sometime in the future. Stay tuned - we'll let you know if The Weller Store will have Ting in the future. We're keeping our fingers crossed!

  1. I had seen a Ting bottle but hadn't know it was still being made (or not as the case may be) - I wish Waupaca wasn't so far away from Waterford or I'd be up there like a shot to try some if it comes back! :D Carolyn

  2. I'm the guy who wants to resurrect "TING". I hoped to be up and running by now but I am having a tough time securing financing. Also, the TING name has been trademarked by Kraft Foods international. The product would come back with the same flavors, bottles and caps but would be called "FLAVOR 8 SODA POP". I'm working hard to make this happen and when it does I'll let you know. 4. To Dave~
It has been a tradition every year to have Ting at our family reunion. Kudos to you! Don't let the Ting die! I don't want the name to change, either! I'm having shirts made now; Ting~ Bring It Back. The owner got hurt in Europe and stopped making the Ting but now has it up and running again. I just got word that Village Beverage in Slinger, WI carries the Ting. I called to confirm it. IT'S TRUE!
Also.....WHY in the world would they call it Flavor 8?!

  5. Dave - Is Tammy right? Have you rescued Ting from the brink? Ting has been the official drink of the Appleton North High School Choir for over 10 years. They were devastated that Ting was going away. Each year, the choir's graduating Seniors coronate a "Ting King" from among the Juniors who will be in choir the following year. The Ting King is responsible for acquiring and bringing the Ting to post-concert choir parties. As far as changing the name...don't. The fact that Kraft Foods has registerd the name should help you... You had prior usage over them. They want to use their mark. The time to challenge their mark is NOW! You should be able to ask them for a license fee to use your pre-existing mark in this region. It might help you with financing your operation.... :-) Bring on the TING!

  17. Thank you Dave! I have an 1960's coke machine that we always put Ting in for our kids when they were growing up. I now have the machine going again and was looking for some to put in it. I was happy to see that you brought this back and I am excited to get some Flavor 8 soda for my grandchildren. We can keep the tradition going. Thanks again!!
